In the early nighttime hours of Christmas, my block had two cars burnt (without people in them, thank goodness.) My roommates and I are afraid it was a random act, therefore we're afraid to start our cars since they too may have been tampered with.

Can we call our local precinct to take a look beneath and in our cars to make sure there wasn't any fiddling done with the ignition, etc.?

How should I address the situation to the officer on the other side of the phone line to get what I want?

So from the searching I did, it seems the problem is either:

-my iPhone is not sending out the "I got the message!" automated response, and so my friends' phones (on verizon and metro pcs) automatically resend the texts

-my phone is sending out the message, but my friends' phones aren't getting it and so are resendimg the texts

-there is something funky going on in areas where there is both 3G and edge coverage, and if sender or rescipient is going in and out of this coverage, duplicate or more messages occur.

Thoughts?

If you were at Halloween in December, you saw our wares to date... the soaps, the sugar scrubs, the candles. We had a blast there and were happy to have you come by and give us feedback. We were also really happy at the great reception we got. As it turns out, YES, we will have our stuff at Wicked! We are able to fit it in the same space with my face & body painting gear, so... you get to get painted and then buy the means to wash it off! Ha!

Plus, we've got a new addition!  We have come up with our first soap specifically for men - a shaving soap!

When I go into my Mail for the last couple of hours, the bottom line shows "Updated 12/24/09 19:55" (the time of this post) and it appears to be current, but up in the top bar, next to the AT&T logo, the icon that shows the phone is "working" is circling, and has been for at least an hour. I've tried to hard reset my phone but it's still doing that. Any suggestions?

[Edited to Add: It's a new purchase from AT&T, and I'm also having problems with the touch screen locking up, problems which my mother's new iPhone does not appear to be share - return and exchange?]

my friends and i all turned 21 earlier this year, so this is the first new year's eve that we can drink legally. 

my friends all want to buy tickets to a bar's open bar party. i'd rather just stay in our dorm room and get trashed there, instead of going out, so. . .

give it to me straight: are these parties really worth it?

for what it's worth, we live in the east village, so there are a ton of bars around, but they're all lured by the idea of "unlimited booze".

For those of you who have lived here for a while, have you found a neighborhood that you love living in? How long did it take you to find it? Where did you live before that didn't work for you?

i signed up for the trial mobileme account, decided it wasn't worth $100 a year for my battery to run out every 5 hours so i could have "findmyiphone" running and cancelled my account. it's gone from my phone, it's gone from my computer, but maddeningly, the phone still tries to synch with mobileme every couple of hours and i get a popup window telling me my login failed, my password is invalid.

any advice? other than "buy mobileme so that it'll sync"?

So I kept getting not one but three copies of each text message one particular friend was sending me. (via verizon). I assumed it was a prob w her phone. Till I got duplicate messages
of another friend's 2 texts! (on metro pcs). So. Is this an iPhone prob or an AT&T prob? I tried doing the reset mentioned here (hold home button and off button past slide to turn off screen - I forget if that's "hard" or soft reset) but the metro pcs one was after that! Weirdness! (luckily I have unlimited text plan, but still....!)

JFK- Tomorrow I have a flight departing at 7:50 in the morning, and I wanted some advice as to when I should get there, being Christmas Eve and all. I don't want to be sitting in the waiting area for hours, but I would like to have enough time to get through security and *possibly* grab a cup of coffee before I board. I would like a realistic estimate of how much time I should allot myself. Suggestions are much appreciated.

I'm working on a new website for myself and against my preference have chosen to largely use wordpress in constructing it due to the pretty handy iphone app for wordpress.
i was hoping that i would be able to upload images through this app [i can] and then use wordpress to automatically sort those images based on tags etc and make corresponding gallery pages. i can't seem to find any plugin that does this.

so does anyone know of any apps that allow uploading of photos to a personal server? [not flickr, photobucket etc.]
or just a straight out "FTP" type app?
[preferably cheap/free]
